How to choose an EV charger installer

Every installer in our directory is listed on the GOV.UK OZEV authorised installer finder. Here is what else to check before you book.

Last checked: 14 October 2026. Schemes change, so confirm on GOV.UK before you commit.

Why use an OZEV-authorised installer?

If you want a government chargepoint grant, the installer handles the claim, and from 1 April 2026 installer claims must include photo evidence of the installed chargepoint and parking space.

Does the charger have to be “smart”?

Chargers sold for home use in Great Britain must meet the Smart Charge Points Regulations 2021, including smart functionality, default off-peak charging hours you can change, and security requirements.

What should a quote include?

Ask for the charger model, all cabling and groundwork, any supply or fuse board work, testing and certification, the warranty, and whether the grant has already been deducted.

How many quotes should I get?

Two or three written quotes make it easier to compare. Use our county and town pages to find installers based near you.
